Problem: Colour Laser Printers - A4 vs A3. Help with functionality.
Colour Laser Printers - A4 vs A3. Help with functionality.
Hi
I'm looking to buy a colour laser printer. I'd like to spend about $1000.
I want it mainly for A4 printing however occasionally would like to print A3.
I was told that some of the A4 colour laser printers you can use the Manual Feed tray to run an A3 sheet of paper in and therefore print on A3 paper.
In my conversation with Dell the sales guy couldn't confim this.
Does anyone know if this kind of thing is possible.
I don't want to spend $8000 on an A3 printer. Nor do I want to use Inkjet.
If this is not possible and you know of a good Colour Laser Printer A4 for about $1000, please reccommend it.
Thanks
Brett

You won't find an A3 laser for $1000. And no A4 laser will take A3 paper. The reason is that all A4 lasers take the paper lengthwise; hence the input is only 210mm wide (actually 216 mm as it also takes US Letter size paper) and A3 is 297mm.
The cheapest A3 laser I know in Australia is the Fuji Xerox DPC3055. You should be able to get one for less than A$2200. It runs 8ppm colour and 35ppm mono. The next one up is the DPC4350 (35ppm colour, 45ppm mono) for around A$5000.
