How to convert a Gigabit network speed to Megabytes (MB)/minute.
Hi - I'm looking for the calculation to convert a Gigabit network speed to Megabytes (MB)/minute. Thanks.
-Chris
Solution: How to convert a Gigabit network speed to Megabytes (MB)/minute.
1 Gigabit * 1000 = 1000 Megabit
1000 Megabit / 8 (bits per byte) = 125 Megabytes per sec
125 Megabytes per sec * 60 = 7,500 MB per min
Of course this number is only theoretical. No network I have ever encountered would reach it's theoretical max. You will probably get something around 5,000 MB per min on a 1 Gigabit link.
