Stop media player from changing resolution when projector is connected

When I play a video through media player, it looks fine on the laptop. If a projector is plugged in, the laptop changes the resolution of the projector as soon as I open the video. It plays fine but I can no longer see the media player controls on the projector. Only the video appears through the projector...

Problem: How to convert animated gifs to mov for use in powerpoint

I have migrated from Win XP to Mac OS X. Now my Powerpoint slides containing animated gifs are no longer animated. I presume that in order to restore animation that I need to convert the gifs to mov files (unless there is another solution). How do I do this? Thanks. Rick Example gif atached

Problem: Projector that will play Powerpoint presentations without the need for a notebook or PC

Is there a projector that will play Powerpoint presentations without the need for a notebook or PC (but these can still be used)? I need to get a dozen projectors that are used for presentations at conferences. They will need hard cases and need to be durable to endure cross country shipping. Any suggestions...
